Coffee with Friends

Yesterday after work, my "fine figure of a man" and I set out on an adventure.  Crazy.  That's what I called it after we headed out on a 6 hour drive at 6:30 p.m.  We arrived at my sister and brother-in-law's house about 11:15 p.m.  Just in time to go to bed.  Actually, it seemed a little past "just in time".  Exhaustion has settled into my bones in the driver's seat as we headed around Clear Lake.  It's a windy, unforgiving roadway with car lights that stare you right in the face.  In the light, this drive is beautiful and very scenic.  I've driven it quite a few times and knowing the roadway and it's curves, hills and minimal straight stretches doesn't get any easier.

My thoughts on this crazy idea of driving half the night to get to our destination was to spend a day with special people.  It had been a while since we had been to Willits and the recent "new addition" to their place was calling us to visit.   Long, tucked in bed, Randy was in a deep slumber when we showed up but Rosie was diligently waiting up for us with lights ablazin'.

After enjoying a cup of coffee with them this morning, we headed to town to meet Ryan and go to breakfast.  It was great to see Ryan and his hugs are always awesome!  After dropping him back at his place, we headed for a town tour.  Randy was a great guide.

It was a great time with friendly relatives.  We visited some of their most favorite spots and heard from their heart.  Randy lost his mom last year.  It has been hard for both of them.  Their stories so reflective of their love for her and family.

Their new place is such a nice home and they were excited to share it with us.  It was the night before Sawyer's 18th birthday.  Rosie thought tacos for dinner was just the way it should be.
I smiled.
Of course.
Totally sounded appropriate to me too.
Happy Birthday to our boy.
Thanks Randy and Rosie!
